Since our busy launch period in August as the first brand offering halal baby food in pouches, we’ve been working all over the country getting our pouches in stores across the country, and engaging with mums of the UK. This weekend, we team up with a former BBC Masterchef contestant and mum of 3, Reena Gupta, for the Birmingham Mela show to answer parents’ questions relating to culinary skills and expertise and feeding little ones.
Birmingham-born and bred Reena reached the third round heats of the 2014 Masterchef competition, making dishes such as masala lamb in butternut squash with jeera rice (cumin rice) and vegetable manchurian (inspired by indochinese cuisine) with lime rice followed by choux pastry with cardamom cream.
For more than a decade Reena has continued to impart her love of cooking and children with her local Birmingham community including teaching 5-6 year olds in the Scouts about foods from around the world and working with children in primary schools. She also ran her own café, Munch Box, in a shopping centre in Birmingham where she served up an eclectic menu of international cuisine- favourites included spicy egg wraps for breakfast or jerk chicken with pea rice and the chicken Manchurian.
“My children were introduced to a wide range of foods and grew up to love anything and everything. As babies they had a lot of Indian based food such as aloo gobi (potatoes and cauliflower), aloo mattar (potatoes and peas) and all types of lentils – in fact every vegetable that exists! The for aisha range has this complex variety and I’m delighted to represent them at the Birmingham Eid Mela.”
Since taking part in the show, Reena remains passionate about cooking and has been busy with speaking engagements and cooking demonstrations, though she has branched out to run her own Birmingham data marketing consultancy!
Meet Reena at our for aisha stand on Birmingham Mela on 16th August at Cannon Hill Park in Birmingham. You can find full details of the event here on Facebook – entry is absolutely FREE – so why not come along to a fantastic family day out?
We’re looking forward to seeing you all there!
